how do i get people to optin to my email marketing list?

i have a small course in my subject matter, i want to make a list of like 2-3000 individuals who would be interested in purchasing material related to my subject matter.
how can i do that.

the trick is to give them a part of what they want for free, and give the other part for a fee..
you can use something like aweber or getresponse type email marketing lists.
having said that, i cannot stress the need to give more, i mean there are only like 2 lists that i have remained subscribed to, and both of them are the emails i look forward to reading, because they give so so much more.
One simple approach is to make them a KILLER-OFFER in return for joining your mailing list.
For example you could provide a short excerpts from your course as a series of emails. With each excerpt, be sure to offer them an opportunity to buy!
You may also want to include a short letter introducing the excerpt and it never huts to include testimonials.
